Neo4j Tutorial - Melbourne

This tutorial covers the core functionality of the Neo4j graph database. With a mixture of theory and hands-on practice sessions, attendees will quickly learn how easy it is to develop a Neo4j-backed application.

Topics covered include:

  • Introduction to Neo4j, from installation to basic operation
  • Fundamentals of graph modeling
  • Querying, creating and updating with the Cypher query language
  • A survey of real-world use cases
  • Opportunity to consult on current projects, possible implementations and proof of concepts 

Attendees won't need any previous experience with Neo4j, NOSQL databases or specific development languages, but will need their own laptop.

Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided.

Tatham Oddie

Working in his own businesses for a number of years, Tatham developed a deep understanding of the complete lifecycle of custom software development as well as the business drivers which surround it. He applies this understanding, with experience in large government, commercial and NFP projects, to helping organisations improve their own delivery processes. A regular presenter at conferences throughout Australia, New Zealand, North America and Europe; Tatham is also an active participant in several industry standards groups.


Readify is pleased to be co-organising this technical seminar with Neo Technology. Readify has worked with Neo Technology enabling the use of Neo4j for our customers who are building on the .NET platform, by developing an open source .NET driver library that allows easy access to the Neo4j graph database. Readify Principal Consultant, Tatham Oddie, will be presenting at this event and is a major contributor to the .NET driver library. Tatham has firsthand experience working with Neo4j in mission critical production environments.
